Sony is expecting lacklustre US consumer spending over the Christmas season, Stan Glasgow, president of the Japanese electronics group’s US unit, warned.
Mr Glasgow’s sombre assessment contrasts with that of the Consumer Electronics Association, the Washington-based industry trade association. The association predicted this month that sales of consumer electronics products in the US would increase by about 3.5 per cent over last year’s figures, in spite of evidence of a sharp fall in US consumer confidence.
