Takafumi Horie, the brash chief executive of Livedoor, is set to up the ante in the ongoing battle to take control of Fuji Television, one of Japan's leading broadcasters.

Livedoor, an internet services provider, will ask the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission and the Tokyo Stock Exchange to probe an attempt by Fuji TV and Nippon Broadcasting System, its largest shareholder, to fend off the takeover.
