Pupils to benefit as investment set to rise 50%

Education emerged a winner from the chancellor’s Budget with a 50 per cent increase in school investment over the next five years.

Over the period funding will rise from £5.6bn a year to £8bn. The strong focus on education reflected two worries: the far higher level of funding enjoyed by the UK’s private schools and the importance of matching the educational investment of the country’s key competitors.
