The mysterious disappearance of Steve Fossett, the millionaire adventurer who went missing on a solo flight a year ago, appeared to have been solved on Thursday when the wreckage of his aircraft was discovered in rugged mountain terrain in northern California.

Search teams found the wreck in the Inyo National Forest near the town of Mammoth Lakes after a hiker discovered identity cards that belonged to Fossett, along with clothing and several $100 bills.
