US and Australia in security pact

US President George W. Bush and Australia’s prime minister John Howard are this week expected to establish a new security pact that will provide Australian companies with greater access to secret US military technology.

The leaders are due to hold talks in Sydney on Wednesday. Robert McCallum, US ambassador to Australia, said the pact would be discussed.
