US set to boost cyber security

Michael Chertoff, the US homeland security secretary, on Tuesday outlined plans for a “Manhattan project” for information technology security that would see increased sharing of information between government and industry about potential threats.

The move, announced at the annual RSA internet security conference in San Francisco, is part of a broader push by George W. Bush to better protect US data networks from threats posed by hackers, thieves and foreign governments.
