Aids drug pioneers in talks with backers after collapse of trials

A US-based public health group is in discussions with financial backers to bolster pioneering Aids drug trials in Africa after ethical setbacks destabilised existing studies.

The clinical trials into the efficacy of using the drug tenofovir to prevent groups at high risk from contracting the infection had showed signs of delivering promising results.
