Thomson Reuters upgrades applications

Thomson Reuters is overhauling its mobile applications for the iPhone and Blackberry, as a first step towards charging for its content on smartphones.

The financial and professional data group, which began offering news stories to traders’ mobile phones in 1991 and has more basic WAP services on both platforms, launched richer applications on Sunday, with video and market data as well as headlines.
