Cross-pollination concern in GM trials

Field trials of genetically modified crops could be underestimating the potential for cross-pollination with conventional crops, according to scientists from the University of Exeter.

Using records of wind speed from weather stations across Europe to predict the movement of pollen in the air, researchers showed there were significant variations in the amount of cross-pollination between conventional and GM crops of maize, oilseed rape, rice and sugar beet.
