Banks make plea to Brown on regulation

Britain’s banks on Sunday pleaded with Gordon Brown to save them from excessive regulatory burdens at this week’s G20 summit in Pittsburgh, saying such a move could limit their ability to lend.

The banks claim the G20 could unwittingly derail the recovery by imposing rules, including new capital and liquidity ratios, too quickly, limiting the amount of credit available to businesses.
