Seed capital providers now vital for funds

A mini-boom is under way in the business of providing hedge funds with seed capital as investors become less willing to put money into start-ups without a track record or expensive risk control systems.

Seed capital providers, incubators and seeding platforms have raised well over $1bn this year to back new funds and fundraising targets suggest they hope to pull in even more in the second half of the year.
