Fresh concerns over financials drag Footsie into negative territory

Barclays was an unlikely winner as renewed concerns about financial stocks dragged the London market into negative territory.

Barclays rose 2.4 per cent to 356½p, a one-month high, as a record 256m shares changed hands, more than 2½ times the daily average.
