Profits tumble at International Ferro Metals

The shutdown of the ferrochrome market over the winter and spring wiped out full-year profits at International Ferro Metals, but the South African ferrochrome producer suggested there was no chance of its R456m ($61m) loss recurring as long as the Chinese economy keeps growing.

Producers of ferrochrome, the key ingredient of stainless steel, are picking themselves up after an annus horribilis even worse than that in the diamond industry.
