BAE warns against delay in replacing Trident

A decision on whether to replace Britain's Trident nuclear deterrent must be made early next year if the country is to retain vital submarine-building expertise, its biggest military manufacturer has warned.

Speaking to the parliamentary defence committee yesterday, Murray Easton, head of the submarine division at BAE Systems, warned that a delay could have a "catastrophic" impact on the industry.
