Five leading developing nations will be attending part of the Group of Eight summit today for the first time. But this does not mean the G8 is about to become the G13.

The leaders of rich nations plan to focus on climate change with guests whose economies have grown so much they are difficult to ignore, whether in tackling greenhouse gas emissions or global economic imbalances.
