Stem cell move offers disease hope

The dream of turning a patient’s cells into all-purpose stem cells to treat disease – avoiding the controversial involvement of human embryos or cloning – is coming closer.

Scientists at Cambridge university are making important discoveries about “induced pluripotent stem cells” (IPSCs), which can turn into any human tissue – from brain to bone.
