Capital markets: Exchange gains from caution and strict rules

As often happens in times of crisis, Brazil’s capital markets were the first choice last year for investors needing cash to cover losses in the first wave of subprime panic. The sell-off was gigantic – and, as confidence has started to return, half the outflows had already been reversed before the end of last month.

Yet throughout all the turbulence, Brazil’s capital markets have remained unshaken.
