Haier gets to top but must work to stay there

Haier’s place at the top of the FT Chinese Global Brands Survey is the result of a determined long-term drive by China’s biggest white goods manufacturer to win a name for itself overseas.

The campaign has included the investment of more than US$15m in a Greek-columned US headquarters in New York, the establishment of a dozen overseas factories and a pioneering role as one of the first Chinese companies to employ an international advertising company.
