China warms to green alliance with US

China and the US should set up joint research laboratories for renewable energy and other pollution-reducing technologies, according to a leading Chinese official.

Wang Qishan, the new Chinese vice-premier in charge of trade and finance, says the two governments should jointly establish tax and trade policies to encourage energy-saving innovation and set up exchanges of researchers.
