In its review of Clint Eastwood’s new film Invictus, the Hollywood Reporter, the bible of all things Tinseltown, writes: “Here is a movie about Nelson Mandela, South Africa after apartheid and, of all things, the sport of rugby. None is high on any list of topics that studio suits crave, which tend more toward vampires and superheroes.”
Some rugby clubs might argue they have front-row forwards more terrifying than a casting agency’s entire roster of Dracula actors. But rugby will never conquer America, least of all Hollywood.
