DVD business shift hits Blockbuster

Frugally-minded US consumers have been spending more time entertaining themselves at home over the past year – eating more frozen pizza and snacks and spending more money on DVD rentals – but the recessionary boom has done little to help Blockbuster.

The leading US DVD and video rental chain this week gave details of an accelerated store closure programme as it restructures its $941m in long term debt.
