During the global economic upheavals of the past two years, Frankfurt has had its share of attention. Germany’s banks were among the first hit by the financial tsunami.

It was from Germany’s financial capital that the European Central Bank took the lead in launching large-scale emergency liquidity injections by the world’s monetary authorities.
