UN fears decline in non-financial reporting

The boom in companies reporting on their impact on society and the environment could soon lose momentum, with "non-financial reporting" in future playing only a "very limited" role in sustainable development.

An internal United Nations-commissioned study, obtained by the Financial Times, argues that moves by companies to report on their labour standards and environmental footprints will remain a "niche practice" limited to trans-national companies based in industrialised countries.
