Opposition threatens digital reform bill

The two main UK opposition parties on Friday threatened to block regulatory reforms affecting broadband, internet piracy and broadcasting unless the government made concessions.

The digital economy bill will almost certainly need the support of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats to make it on to the statute book. Relatively few legislative days are left before the general election, giving the opposition parties significant influence in the Lords, where Labour lacks an overall majority.
