India signals flexibility on climate targets

India says it could agree to “implicit” carbon emissions targets as part of a global climate change deal, by passing domestic laws enshrining concrete measures that India would take to control greenhouse gases as its economy grows.

The comments from Jairam Ramesh, India’s environment minister came as almost 100 heads of state and government gathered for a United Nations meeting on Tuesday to discuss how to tackle climate change.
