Berlusconi returns to work with tax pledge

Silvio Berlusconi, Italy’s prime minister, returned to work on Monday, four weeks after he was attacked on the street by a mentally ill man.

The 73-year old prime minister used his first day back to air a fresh pledge to cut taxes ahead of regional elections but will also have to confront a raging national debate over race riots in southern Italy
