Micro Focus boosts bid for Borland

Micro Focus International moved into pole position to secure US group Borland Software after it increased its bid and a rival suitor walked away.

The UK group boosted its cash offer for Borland from $1 per share to $1.15, valuing the Nasdaq-listed group’s equity at $88m. Analysts said it was unlikely other bidders would come to the fore.
