Lars Nyberg, TeliaSonera’s new chief executive, insisted that the Swedish telecommunications company would redouble efforts to cut costs at home at the same time as it sought expansion in fast-growing Eurasian markets.
In his first strategic statement since he took over two months ago, Mr Nyberg on Friday reiterated that investments in Turkcell in Turkey and Megafon in Russia, both mobile telecoms companies, were key to future growth in spite of disputes with fellow shareholder Alfa Group of Russia.
