Farnborough Airshow 2008 EADS is hoping to take advantage of the financial resources and industrial ambitions of the Gulf states by extending the supplier base for its Airbus division into the Middle East for the first time.
Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi government’s investment fund which is playing a leading role in the drive to diversify the country’s economy, is investing $500m to establish a composite aerostructures manufacturing plant with the ambitious aim of eventually becoming a tier one components supplier for the next generation of Airbus commercial aircraft.
