Brussels strengthens ‘e-invoicing’

New rules designed to make it simpler and easier for companies to file sales tax invoices were proposed by Brussels on Wednesday, in a move that officials say should also help reduce value-added tax fraud.

The proposal, adopted by the European Commission, tries to eliminate the barriers to the use of “e-invoicing”. It also addresses issues raised by businesses over the storing of invoices and discrepancies in the content of invoices.
