Relations between the Ministry of Defence and industry have always been marked by extremes. Unfortunately for both sides, the lows have typically been more frequent than the highs.
The department is struggling with a budget crisis that has left it facing an estimated shortfall of at least £2bn ($4bn) and made this one of the toughest planning rounds in decades – one that threatens to undermine relations with industry.
