Digital music sales soar

Revenue from digital music sales more than tripled over the first six months of the year, partly offsetting a decline in overall sales and offering a ray of optimism for an industry that has struggled to adapt to the internet era.

Overall, digital music sales came in at an estimated $790m through the first six months of the year, up from $220m during the same period a year earlier, according to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry.
