LG Electronics, which is expected to overtake Motor-ola as the world's third largest handset maker, said it planned to accelerate its push into emerging markets as part of a plan nearly to doubleglobal market share from 9.3 per cent to 15 per cent in the next 18 months.
"We want to become a firm top-three player by 2010 and become number one eventually," Scott Ahn, president of LG's mobile communications division, said in an interview with the Financial Times.
