Tanfield's Ford deal set to be unplugged

Tanfield is expected to announce on Friday the termination of a deal with Ford to collaborate on a battery-powered Transit Connect van.

The deal was announced in February only a few days after news that Tanfield was setting up a joint venture in order to take its Smith electric vehicles into the US market. The two announcements helped the shares to recover some of the steep losses suffered in mid-2008, when the company warned of production problems for its electric vehicles.
