Iran lashed out at Oxford University on Tuesday for having set up a scholarship in memory of Neda Salehi Agha-Soltan, the young Iranian woman whose death during the June post-election unrest provoked international outrage and became a symbol of regime brutality.
In a statement, the Iranian embassy in London said the university was stepping up its involvement in a “politically motivated campaign”, claiming the Neda scholarship was linked to British interference in Iran’s internal affairs.
