Ruling against Comcast web traffic handling

Comcast runs the risk of triggering a tougher regulatory environment should it appeal against yesterday's Federal Communications Commission ruling against its approach to managing internet traffic over its networks, analysts warned yesterday.

The narrow 3-2 decision addressed the charge that the cable company unfairly restricted customers' access to peer-to-peer online video sharing applications, but would encourage proponents of "network neutrality" legislation, they said.
