Company liability bill lacks clarity, says CBI

Companies operating in the public sector face "huge areas of uncertainty" over their potential liability under government plans to make it easier to prosecute businesses following fatal accidents, the CBI has said.

The employers' body told the Commons home affairs select committee yesterday the draft corporate manslaughter bill could create an "unlevel playing field" between companies offering services such as healthcare and prisoner custody and their state-owned rivals.
