Inflation pressures deal blow to pensions

Inflationary pressures are putting increasing strains on pension funds as deficits rise because of falling government bond yields.

Yields on key inflation-linked bonds, which pension funds need to invest in to protect themselves against rising consumer prices, have fallen to record lows because of the deteriorating inflationary outlook.
