Central Rand wins ‘new order’ rights

Central Rand Gold, the London-listed gold explorer, is poised to move on to the centre stage of South African gold mining after it won government approval on Wednesday to revive a swathe of gold mines in the Johannesburg area.

The shares initially rose following the South African Department of Minerals and Energy’s grant of “new order” mining rights to the company, which will now be able to exploit three concessions in the Central Rand gold fields.
