Ericsson confident of Nortel approval

Ericsson voiced confidence on Monday that its $1.1bn deal to buy the core wireless assets of Nortel Networks would go ahead, in spite of threats from a defeated suitor to challenge the takeover.

Research in Motion, maker of the Blackberry range of smartphones, called for the Canadian government to review the acquisition, which would see some of the country’s most prized technology assets fall under Swedish control.
