Fall in migrants could stall recovery

A fall in the number of immigrant workers threatens to create skills shortages and hold back Britain’s recovery from the recession, a leading group of economic forecasters has warned.

The Ernst & Young Item Club, whose members include companies from a range of industry sectors, said the levels of inward migration seen over the past 10 years would not return even after the recession ended.
