Pressure mounts at German spy agency

Pressure grew on Germany's BND foreign intelligence service after it acknowledged an agency official had known of the abduction of a German citizen, allegedly by US CIA agents.

The BND, already on the defensive over revelations on spying activities against journalists, admitted an agent knew of the abduction in Macedonia of Khaled el-Masri in January 2004, soon after the Lebanese-born German was "passed on to the Americans".
