Serco confident of keeping long-term contracts

Serco, the support services company, underlined its resilience to the economic downturn reporting a 33 per cent jump in profits in the first six months of the year.

The company – whose businesses range from managing defence contracts in the UK, US and Canada to maintaining municipal parks in Melbourne – said although the bulk of its customers are governments under pressure to cut spending, it was benefiting from their drive to outsource to boost efficiency.
