G20 seeks bigger role to tackle turmoil

G20 officials agreed on Sunday that developing nations should have a greater role in tackling financial and economic crises but achieved no consensus on how this goal should be achieved.

On a more tangible level, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, said growth next year would come from emerging markets and that China’s government spending package, announced on Sunday, was “good news” that would help the global economy ride out the financial crisis.
