Most corporate data breaches seen as preventable

Nearly nine out of 10 corporate data breaches could have been prevented had reasonable security measures been in place, according to a report to be issued on Wednesday by Verizon Business, part of Verizon Communications.

The “2008 Data Breach Investigations Report” spans four years and more than 500 forensics investigations involving 230m records, and analyses hundreds of corporate breaches – including three of the five largest ever reported.
