Les Echos staff begin strike

Journalists at Les Echos, the French business newspaper, went on strike last night in a show of support for their departing editor who resigned citing interference from the paper's new owners.

Erik Israelewicz said he was leaving Les Echos because of editorial interference by LVMH, the luxury goods group, which last year bought the paper from Pearson, owner of the Financial Times.
