
The day before Israelis went to the polls to elect a new parliament and leader, Tzipi Livni headed to the southern desert for a small rave party. Surrounded by a few dozen young supporters, she hoisted herself on to the back of a truck, and contentedly danced to the thumping electronic music blaring out across the rocky wilderness. Ms Livni looked relaxed. For a politician, one observer remarked, she moved pretty well.
