ADB review sparks resignations

The Asian Development Bank stands accused of watering down protection for villagers forcibly resettled by building projects it finances, with four officials having resigned from their posts in protest.

The Manila-based official multilateral development institution, which funds infrastructure and social development in Asia, is reviewing the “safeguards” it applies to its lending, designed to protect people and the environment.
