For the beleaguered world truck industry, the military market has been a rare source of stability in troubled times.

Defence budgets have sagged alongside corporate earnings during the downturn. Still, the market for military trucks remains relatively recession-proof and robustly long-term, driven lately by new demands for rugged and blast-resistant vehicles for use in Afghanistan.
