French generic drug raids point to wider probe

The breadth of the European Commission’s antitrust probe into the generic industry launched this week suggests it extends beyond a single deal and explores practices across the sector in France, industry experts said on Wednesday.

Sanofi-Aventis, Ratiopharm, Teva, Ranbaxy , Mylan and Novartis all confirmed that their French offices had been raided by officials on Tuesday, while adding that they were unclear of the precise nature of the inquiries.
